revolution™ : Ripping Yarns at Mayfield!

Since the installation of a revolution™ waste processor from ET2 Limited, Mayfield Yarns of Ashbourne, Derbyshire has been able to cut its landfill waste uplifts from 240 per annum to only 24.

Eighty per cent of the company’s waste comprises waste cardboard yarn reels. The strong memory spring-back of the reels proved almost impossible for a standard static compactor to deal with, resulting in little change in weight to volume ratio from the beginning to the end of the compaction process. ET2 Limited specified a revolution™ 2000/18.5 waste processor with extra cutting teeth to ensure destruction of the waste material’s memory.

The patented screw mechanism of the revolution™ automatically grabs the reels and pulls them past a cutter plate before they enter the compaction chamber. The result is a densely compacted waste plug and a compaction ratio of around 5:1. In just 18 operations the revolution™ processes as much waste as the static compact did in 90.

The site’s remaining waste streams consist of cardboard and shrink-wrap packaging, factory floor sweepings, office and canteen waste, and during the growing seasons, lawn, tree and shrub cuttings. All are successfully processed by the revolution™ and automatically fed into a 35 cu. yd. compactor container ready for transportation to landfill.

Since the revolution™ has been on site, it has dramatically cut transportation costs by increasing payloads. Reduced vehicle movement has also improved health and safety on the site as well as satisfying ISO14001 requirements in relation to noise pollution.
